Overview

Big Fella’s BBQ Lounge in Holbrook, Arizona stands out as a genuine testament to Southern barbecue tradition. Nestled on Navajo Boulevard, this unassuming spot offers an experience that feels like a friend’s kitchen rather than a formal restaurant. The warmth of the owner and his dedication to authentic flavors create an inviting atmosphere that welcomes travelers and locals alike.

The brisket is undoubtedly the star here — tender, smoky, and perfectly seasoned with a spice blend that complements without overwhelming. Customers rave about the melt-in-your-mouth texture and rich smoke ring, a hallmark of time-honored pit smoking techniques proudly displayed by the two smokers out front. The brisket plate or sandwich pairs beautifully with the lounge’s standout sides such as the creamy potato salad and the comforting collard greens, which many say rank among the best they've ever tasted.

Beyond brisket, Big Fella’s offers an array of smoked meats including pork ribs, beef ribs, and chicken wings, each crafted with the same care and deep-smoke flavor that defines the lounge’s menu. The baked mac and cheese and baked beans with ground beef lend a hearty balance to the plates, sealing the meal with robust southern soul food vibes. For dessert, the homemade peach cobbler delivers a sweet finish, echoing the home-cooked essence carried through every dish.

The setting is laid-back and unpretentious, making it ideal for truckers, road trippers, and barbecue enthusiasts seeking genuine, no-frills southern cooking in a roadside stop. Parking convenience for larger vehicles adds to its accessibility, especially for those journeying along historic Route 66. The friendly and attentive service, combined with the authentic flavors, ensures a satisfying and memorable experience every visit.

In a region dotted with barbecue joints, Big Fella’s BBQ Lounge carves out its niche by marrying deep smokehouse tradition with an inviting personal touch. It’s a must-stop for anyone craving the rich, satisfying taste of well-crafted, southern-style BBQ in a genuinely warm setting.

Delicious and convenient! Thank you Jeremiah for the great experience and tasty brisket sandwich. The sauce on the sandwich was my favorite aside from the perfectly tender brisket!

Simply amazing down south cooking! Had the brisket and it was great. The potato salad was really good, bake beans were excellent and the Collard Greens were simply out of this world good. The signs outside are almost non existent. He has 2 smokers out front and that's how we figured where it was. A must stop!

Truck driver here. Great tasting BBQ friendly and courteous service. Brisket was delicious. Had a nice smoke ring. Wonderful flavor and tender. Mac and cheese was amazing. There’s parking for your rig across the street behind the corral.

DO NOT PASS THIS PLACE UP! I love some good authentic BBQ and this place delivered. The owner was super friendly and he takes the time to create some delicious food. The collard greens were the best I’ve ever had, and the spice on the brisket was perfect. Next time I roll through town I will make sure to stop in here again. I couldn’t talk a picture of my food because I inhaled it!

Fantastic Brisket, baked Mac and Cheese, and Baked Beans w/ground beef. We found this spot on our drive on Route 66. The atmosphere is like you are sitting in his kitchen for some homemade Bar B Que. We had to also try the Peach Cobbler. Next time we are in the area we will be back. Thanks!

Brisket is smoky and very flavorful. Absolutely delicious mac & cheese is some of the best I’ve ever had in my life. We definitely go back but sadly, I’m just driving through. Definitely recommend.

Jeremiah has a real talent. Meats are off-the-chart good. Sides are solid as well, though (and this might just be my style) they could stand a bit more seasoning. The stars of his menu are the meats so sides (I had collared greens and potatoe salad) may be a moot point. I was bummed that he had run out of peach cobbler, so I couldn't review that. As he gains more foodie fans, he'll get a bigger place to accommodate all his customers.

We were travelling from Ohio to Arizona and were on the last leg if our trip. We needed to get out and stretch our legs and get a bite to eat to make that last push to our destination. We came across Big Fellas BBQ in Holbrook and, based on the good reviews, we decided to stop. As soon as we got out of our vehicle, I knew we had made a good decision. The food was great! The young man who owns the business does everything himself. He is truly a one man show. He hasn't been in business long, but I see great things in his future. The space itself is a bit of a work in process, but the food is the star of the show! We hope to stop again on our next trip out!
